Which Motor Oil Does My Vehicle Need?

If the long wall of the many different jugs of motor oil at the store leaves you in a cloud of confusion, you're not alone. Many first-time buyers of motor oil are in the same boat as you. The modern oil market is full of different brands, viscosities, and oil bases. The best choice for your vehicle can be decided by the seasonal climate, the distance and style of your usual driving, and the age or mileage of the motor. Our certified technicians can help make this decision as simple as possible for you.

Conventional Oil

Conventional oil is the most original form of motor oil. It's the most widely used and most affordable type. It's manufactured in factories from crude oil extracted from beneath the earth's surface. It's perfect for people with light-duty cars that don't long distances very often, especially for those who live wherever the climate remains much of the same throughout the year.

Full Synthetic Oil

Full synthetic can provide some of the best improvements in performance and fuel economy from motor oil, but at a higher cost for most engines. It provides incredible lubrication, longevity, ability to flow well at higher viscosities, and resistance to the accumulation of oil sludge that older cars are naturally very susceptible to acquiring. This is because it is much more refined than conventional, as it is entirely produced from scratch in a controlled environment without the need for crude oil. It's highly resistant to oxidation, thermal breakdown of internal engine components, and inefficient flow in extreme temperatures, meaning that it's especially great for those who live in places of intense cold or heat. Full synthetic motor oil can safely replace conventional oil at any time.

Synthetic Blend

Synthetic blends of motor oil are combinations of the common conventional oil, full synthetic oil, and additives to provide additional benefits, such as higher oxidation resistance and better operation at low temperatures, similar to full synthetic motor oil. It has many of the same great abilities of full synthetic, but at a price that's closer to that of conventional motor oil. It lasts longer than conventional oil, but full synthetic still reigns supreme in the competition for longevity.
