Specs at a Glance

The Aviator gets modest upgrades in 2021, including a few more options available to select trims and some more amenities added to the appearance packages. Fundamentally, the SUV carries over largely unchanged from the year before. The Aviator lineup is still impressive and intriguing, with many excellent trim levels. Two standout trims are the Reserve and Black Label Grand Touring. The Reserve, second from the base, add many more standard features, while the Black Label Grand Touring tops the line for luxury, technology, and safety.

The Reserve and Black Label Grand Touring differ in their engines and power output. While the base engine on the Reserve packs plenty of power, the Grand Touring's engine is even mightier. The Reserve's engine is a turbo 3.0L V6. With this engine beneath its hood, the Reserve delivers 400 HP for maximum power. Its equally impressive torque output is 415 LB-FT. The Black Label Grand Touring has a turbo 3.0L V6 engine with hybrid technology. The Grand Touring's power capability reaches 494 HP. Its torque output is also greater at 630 LB-FT. The two trims have an identical 10-speed automatic transmission. The Reserve has standard rear-wheel drive with optional all-wheel drive, while all-wheel drive is standard on the Grand Touring.

The Reserve and Black Label Grand Touring both have elegant and luxurious exteriors. The Reserve includes bright LED headlights on its front end with chrome accents. Roof rails are standard, and you'll get a power liftgate. Heated windshield wipers are available through a package on this trim and standard on the Grand Touring. The Grand Touring upgrades to 22-inch wheels. It also adds turn-adaptive headlights to the front.

An impressive list of features are included with the Reserve. This trim has refined leather upholstery, a power-adjustable steering wheel, ambient cabin lighting, a 14-speaker audio system, and captain's chairs for the back row. The Reserve also has some standard advanced safety aids, including lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and forward collision mitigation. A panoramic sunroof comes with the Black Label Grand Touring, along with heated seats, ventilated front seats, and a high-end audio system that has 28 speakers. The Grand Touring also gets an automated parking system, evasive steering assist, and adaptive cruise control for safety.
