There are many reasons why you may suddenly experience a non-operative car battery on your daily adventures. Here at Grapevine Lincoln, we never want for you to get stuck in a parking lot with no assistance. Here is a safe guide to jump your car battery when it is dead.
- Secure the help of another motorist that you can trust.
- Bring the two vehicles as close together as possible so the noses of the vehicles almost touch.
- Turn off the working car, and locate the jumper cables.
- Find the ends of the cables marked positive, then connect one to the positive terminal of the battery that won't start, the other to the positive of the good battery.
- Find the ends of the cables marked negative, then connect one to the negative of the battery that won't start, the other to metal on the car with good battery.
- Everyone stand back, start the car with the good battery and leave it running two minutes.
- Crank over the car with the dead battery; it might take a few tries.
- Once running, start to remove the jumper cables in the opposite order they were installed.
Come to our Lincoln parts and repair facility so our crew can give the battery a full inspection or replace it, if needed.
